We Take in Chinchillas & Other Small Animals in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Do you have a chinchilla or other small animal that you can no longer care for and want to find it a great home? Here at NWI Chinchilla Rescue, we can help. We've owned chinchillas and other small animals for over 10 years now, and do a lot of chinchilla rescue work. We have been called before by Humane Societies as well as individuals and have references if you would like to talk to people who have surrendered their chinchillas and other pets to us. In addition, we are listed on the Tails Inc website under the "Other Pets Rescue Groups" for the Chicago section (http://www.tailsinc.com/resources/chicago-other-pet-rescue-groups/). We are also active in the chinchilla show community, and have experience in caring for most major chinchilla medical concerns.
While we mainly deal with rescue chinchillas, we have the knowledge and ability to take in and care for most other small animals, including rabbits, gerbils, degus, mice, rats, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, and more. The only small animals we do not take in at the rescue are ferrets and hamsters. Sorry, we cannot take in dogs or cats. We take in small animals needing new homes, evaluate them and make sure they are healthy (including vet visits if necessary) over at least a month's time. Once we are sure they are healthy and socialized, we work to find them great homes. Some rescues stay here for years while we work on their bad habits and socialize them, though the typical rescue stays here 1-3 months. We have all our new homes read our chinchilla care packet (or other care packet as applicable) and fill out our adoption form, to be sure that the animals are going to the best homes possible. As a rescue, we do not pay large re-homing fees - please do not contact us and ask us to "rescue" your chinchilla for $200 - that would be buying, not rescuing. If it eases your mind to be paid a small re-homing fee, we may be able to help you.
If you would like updates and pictures of how your chinchilla or other animal is doing, we will gladly email those to you as often as you would like. We can even let you know when your chinchilla has found a new home and send you pictures of your chinchilla and the new owners. We have tons of spare cages and room to take in multiple chinchillas - young, old, male, female, multiple chinchillas at once, it does not matter. We are able to accommodate all different types and all different special needs. The same goes for the other animals we take in.
We have ample room and ample supplies - we buy our chinchilla food 125 pounds at a time, and we get our dust shipped in, 50 pounds at a time as well - we have plenty for your chinchilla to enjoy. We also provide large cages for your chinchilla to exercise in, with chin spins and flying saucers for them to run on. The cages are filled with hammocks, ample chew toys, and pine shelves for their chewing pleasure. Below are some pictures of some rescues enjoying life here. In addition, all chinchillas are let out in our playpen daily, for additional exercise. We welcome any other donations as well - cages, water bottles, whatever you have that you no longer use, we may be able to put it to good use.
We may be able to drive to you to pick up your chinchilla or chinchillas and any supplies you may be sending with, if you are not unreasonably far away. However, we prefer that people drop off their animals at our rescue, or meet us somewhere, if possible.
