1892 Loan & Trust Company in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

xxxx serial-numbered $xxxx income bond certificate issued by The United States Loan & Trust Company. The American Bank Note Company N.Y. printed this document, which contains an ornate border. In the upper corners of the document are two young women, one of whom is tastefully topless, leaning into the curvature of the ornate border. The young woman on the left appears to be wearing a thorny crown, while the topless young woman on the right apprears to wearing a tiara.
In the upper middle of the document, a middle-aged woman sits barefoot and wearing a flowing gown while sitting on a throne and carrying the Scales of Justice in one hand and a long sword in the other hand. Embossed seal in lower left corner says "United States Loan & Trust Company, Oxford, IND". There is also a horizontal cylindrical underprint displaying "xxxx", which is the principal value of the bond. Brown and brown tints dominate the bond. Lettering is both black or white, except for the serial number, which is red. Signed by Corp. President, Secretary and Treasurer. Backside contains boilerplate stock certificate ownership transfer language (but no handwriting), as well as comprehensive Conditions and Agreements to which bondholders are subject. Measures 10 3/8 X 14 1/2 inches. Suitable for framing or frame and gift to someone.
Very good condition except for folds. No rips or tears. Document still has some of its original crispness despite being 120 years old.
