1894 Stock Certificate- Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Authentic red serial-numbered xxxx stock certificate of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company whose "Santa Fe" sign and lettering stood atop Chicago's Railway Exchange Building at 224 S. Michigan Ave. for decades as one of the most memorable visages of the Chicago skyline as seen from Lake Shore Drive.
The Railway Exchange (Santa Fe) Building headquartered as a hub for the company's nationwide train system from xxxx to xxxx and became Burlington Northern Santa Fe in xxxx after ownership change. A sign sponsored by new building tenant Motorala replaced the iconic Santa Fe sign atop the building in late June xxxx. The building contains the penthouse where Daniel Burnham and his associates drew up the xxxx Plan of Chicago.
Attractive stock certificate has a soft brown border and similar color underprint stating "Shares $100 Each" in large lettering on the bottom half of the document. Three graphics appear at top-center of the document. In the middle graphic, a farmer manually plows land behind two horses pulling a tiller. A log building, a covered wagon, a mountain range and a setting sun appear in the background. The farmer graphic is flanked by two other graphics. On the left side a woman in full length dress and bonnet rests near a tall bush with a cornucopia of squash near her feet. On the right side, a man in collared shirt plus vest rests as he cradles a pick-ax in his lap.
Both the Company's Assistant Secretary and President hand-sign the certificate at the bottom, and the Transfer Registar hand-signs along the left border. The American Bank Note Company of New York produced this document.
Document is in Excellent condition, well-centered and measures 7 7/16 X 10 7/16 inches.
