1896 Fire Insurance Policy - London and Lancashire Liverpool England in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Serial-numbered authentic xxxx fire insurance policy issued by London and Lancashire Fire Insurance Company of Liverpool England. Document measures 17 X 22 3/8 inches, and the top quarter of document features graphic of a pair of differently-emblemed coat of arms (unique fighting shield with unique crown on top). The coat of arms pairing is contained inside an ornate metallic grill on which hangs a banner stating the word "Registered" beneath the coat of arms pairing. All of this is neatly framed by the classicly-fonted name of the insurance company. The lower three-quarters of the document detail terms and stipulations of the fire insurance coverage. The insurable property is located at 673-677 South Centre Avenue in Chicago, but I could not determine the east-west proximity of Centre Ave. in xxxx. Backside of document is mostly blank, but does contain some non-descript information.
Suitable for framing under glass. Excellent condition except for fold creases which should be indiscernible once document is pressed under glass for awhile. No other flaws or imperfections whatsoever. Document has retained most of its original crispness over 116 years.
Fire insurance coverage was a big concern for insurers and policyholders alike back in those days. To mitigate risk, some insurers simply refused altogether to insure wooden structures.
