1898 Coupon Bond - Enterprise Oil Company in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

This authentic serial-numbered 5-year six percent gold debenture bond was issued by Enterprise Oil Company (of Southern California) in xxxx. It contains am embossed gold seal in the lower left corner of the document, a sparkling gold-colored border, a sizable golden "$50" underprint (in the middle of the document) denoting the principal bond value, and a handsome graphic near the top featuring a group of workers around a wooden oil drilling platform.
If you have seen the classic movie There Will Be Blood, you know that the beginnings of the oil and petroleum industry attracted enterpreneurs and legions of workers seeking jobs, but the work was very dangerous and people routinely died from on-the-job accidents.
Suitable for framing, this impressive document is in excellent and pristine condition (except for folds), measuring 12 X 19 inches. Not included in the measurement dimensions are original interest coupons which the bondholder needed to cut out and remit to the agent of the bond issuor (Enterprise Oil Company) in order to collect interest at the annual six percent stated rate every three months. All but one of the interest coupons are still attached to this document.
