Price: $11
Type: Art & Antiques, For Sale - Private.

xxxx authentic business memorandum printed on the letterhead of the Independent Brewing Association located at 586 - 612 N. Halsted Street in Chicago. Measures a smallish 6 X 9 3/8 inches.
The graphic at top-left of document depicts a woman standing on a small rock stoop which has a pink outline of North America painted on its side. The young woman wears a short-sleeved gown with a cape and a Roman-style headpiece. In one hand she bears a long sword and in the other hand a large shield emblazoned with a design of the American flag as well as the word "liberty". At the foot of the rock stoop are a couple stalks of both wheat chaff and foliage, along with a banner citing the company's address (see above) plus the longhand address identifier "between Blackhawk, Eastman and Dayton Streets".
Document is in Good condition, but not excellent. Page still has most of its original crispness, although upper-left corner has a 1/2 rip that will not be visible if the document is placed inside a glassed frame. Document also has one vertical and two horizontal fold creases. Suitable for framing.
Disturbed by the onslaught of British foreign capital buying up local Chicago breweries at that time, a consortium of several wealthy and influential Chicago citizens established the Independent Brewing Association as a brewery in xxxx. The organization's objectives were to operate a local brewery "maintained by home capital and conducted on free principles, independent of any and all British Syndicates."
