Authentic xxxx business memorandum on the letterhead of the Newman Clock Co. located at xxxx S. Wabash Ave. in Chicago's South Loop almost directly across the street from the legendary Chicago Coliseum (now demolished). Letterhead features a graphic of the Chicago and New York headquarters on the left and right sides respectively, and a graphic of the Newman manufacturing plant (in West Germany) in the middle.
Abraham Albert Newman founded the company in xxxx in Chicago, and it became the Newman Watchclock Corporation in xxxx, and within months, Detex Watchclock Corporation. Newman manufactured early stationary watchmans clocks using Waterbury lever movements, then imported German watchmans clocks after xxxx. A watchman's clock provides a record of the time a watchman visits checkpoints. It shows reliability and motivates the faithful making of rounds. The value of the watchclock's record depends upon the assurance with which it can be read with respect to both where the person was and when the person was there.
