1917 Stock Certificate- Highland Park Hospital Association in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

When Highland Park Hospital opened in xxxx, it was a pioneer by having its own maternity ward with staff obstetricians. As recently as the early xxxx's, obstetric conditions were unimaginable by today's standards. The best doctors refused to accept childbirth cases, and those who did were ignorant and careless. In the majority of hospitals (without maternity wards), pregnant women shared space with infectious and ill patients. As a result, many mothers died of bed infections or became invalids for life, and many babies were injured or became permanently blind.
Community leader Walter H. Baldwin raised funds for and managed the construction and organization of the hospital and served as the first president of the Highland Park Hospital Association, but that is not who hand-signed this document as president. The scrawled signature appears to say Goodenow?
Highland Park Hospital still operates today. In fact, its heliport grants it elite status as a triage center.
This authentic xxxx stock certificate of Highland Park Hospital Association features good-sized Abraham Lincoln portrait in upper-left corner and embossed, olive-colored corporate seal in lower-left corner.
The mostly black and white document contains a subtle under print of radio waves throughout the document and a mosaic design border which contains a very tiny word "Goes" in the lower left corner, which I presume refers to certificate-maker Goes Lithography Company (established xxxx) which is still in business today in Chicago.
Document is in Excellent condition with no flaws and measures 10 11/16 X 8 1/4 inches.
