This 11-page pamphlet titled "Wherewith Shall It Be Salted? The Preservation of Our Patriotism" is a Memorial Day address delivered before the George H. Thomas Post No. 5 Department of Illinois Grand Army of the Republic by William Chalmers Covert on Sunday, May 29, xxxx at the First Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Measures 4 1/4 X 6 3/4 inches.
Formed in xxxx, the George H. Thomas Post had on its roll of membership many illustrious names, including Lt. General Philip Sheridan, Lt. General Nelson Miles and General John C.. Black. It also sent three of its members to Congress -Comrades John C. Black, George R. Davis and Walter C. Newberry. It has sat at the head table in National Grand Army councils, and as the largest Post in the United States, it yielded a great and generous influence for every cause of interest and benefit to the veterans of the Civil War.
Very good condition, except for the blank back cover, which has areas shaded from age. You will see what I mean when you view it. No writings or rips/tears anywhere on pamphlet.
