1921 Stock Certificate - American International Publishers Inc. in Chicago, Illinois For Sale
Red serial-numbered authentic brown preferred stock certificate for American International Publishers, Inc. Document contains embossed brown seal stating company name at botton-center and a brown underprint stating "Preferred" directly above the embossed seal. Brown border, hand-signed by both the company's secretary and its president in xxxx, printed by the Broun-Green Co. of New York.
The top-center black and white graphic of this mostly-brown attractive document depicts a Roman-styled woman sitting on a bench situated between two large globes which appear to be about four feet tall each. In one hand the woman holds a horseshoe-shaped wreath. Her other hand straddles a short marble pillar next to the bench, and there appears to be a large beehive on top of the pillar. A man is seated near the woman, but he appears lower than the woman, because the woman's bench rests on a one-foot high stoop, while the man's seat is at ground level. A domed building (perhaps a church) appears in the background.
World War 1 decimated the European publishing industry, but after the War a revival occurred with both better paper quality and binding techniques, as well as improved capability for mass book production.
Document is in Excellent condition with no flaws or imperfections. Suitable for framing; measures 8 5/8 X 12 3/8 inches.
