1926 Membership Certificate LakeShore Athletic Club (850 N. LakeShore) in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Authentic, red serial numbered membership certificate to the LakeShore Athletic Club located at 850 N. LakeShore Drive in Chicago. Dated xxxx, the document has a dollar-bill green border with a pinwheel at bottom center and is hand-signed by the Asst. Secretary and the President. Top center of the document contains a graphic of a discus thrower just before releasing his throw.
The 19-story building housing the LakeShore Athletic Club sits on a prominent corner along Lake Michigan, just south of Mies van der Rohe's acclaimed LakeShore Drive Towers. Jarvis Hunt designed the Athletic Club's Beaux Arts structure in the mid-xxxx's and features a marble-clad lobby, ballroom, swimmimg pool, and significant murals. Although the LakeShore Athletic Club is not a designated Chicago landmark, it does appear in the Chicago Historic Resources Survey.
Northwestern University purchased the building in the late xxxx's for use as a residence hall. After the building closed in xxxx, a developer announced in December xxxx that the building would be renovated and converted to luxury senior housing, but both the real estate economic downturn and finding 80-year olds who can hurl a discus have made marketing such an endeavor very challenging.
