1930 Book - Collection of the Late Colonel Ambrose Monell in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

This hardcover book titled "Collection of the Late Colonel Ambrose Monell" is a catalogue of items sold by his surviving spouse and includes seven masterpiece paintings, gothic and renaisasance furniture and sculptures, gothic stained glass and ming plaques. The American Art Association Anderson Galleries Inc. (Tuxedo Park, New York) published this xxxx book, which includes nearly fifty illustrations, two of which are in-color gothic stained glass.
Mr. Monell was a metalurgical engineer and creator of Monel Metal, a non-corrosive alloy widely used today in offshore drilling and used back then for many other uses where durability and non-corrosiveness were key attributes. After he resigned from the International Nickel Company in xxxx, where he served as company president and amassed a great fortune, Monell became a colonel on the staff of the commander of the American aviation forces in France during the brutal World War 1 conflict.
When Monell returned to the States after the War, he retained his directorships in American International, Midvale Steel, International Motors, International Nickel and other corporations, but he never did return to active business life, forever altered by war. He died in xxxx at age 47 due to nervous breakdown believed to be a by-product of all the death he had inflicted and witnessed.
The Ambrose Monell Foundation, whose charities include hospitals, scientific research, museums and the performing arts, continues to this day.
The hardcover book is in mint condition. The outer cover measures 8 X 11 7/16 inches, and its inside pages measure slightly less. The illustrations are of priceless and extraordinary Monell tradition. The book pages are not numbered, but suffice that there are about 100 pages. A fine arts treasure.
