Price: $22
Type: Art & Antiques, For Sale - Private.

Full sheet of xxxx-issued Circus five-cent authentic U.S. postage commemorative stamps in array of 10 columns X 5 rows. Stamp features image not just of a smiling clown who loosely resembles Bozo the Clown, but of world famous clown Lou Jacobs who, apparently unbeknownst to the U.S. Postal Service, was still alive at the time, thus making Lou the first living person to have his image on a U.S. stamp.
This 5-cent Circus stamp was first placed on sale at Delavan, Wisconsin on May 2, xxxx and was issued to honor the American Circus on the centenary of the birth of John Ringling. Ringling and his four brothers founded the Ringling Brothers Circus and later acquired the Barnum and Bailey Circus originally based in London. Designed by Edward Klauck of New York City. Stamp sheet is in mint condition with no flaws or imperfections. Suitable for framing, especially along a hallway or stairway of your home.
Speaking about Ringling Brothers and the Barnum and Bailey Circus, the massive logistics effort which made big top circuses possible led Cecil B. DeMille to coin the phrase - "This is the story of the biggest of the Big Tops . . . The Greatest Show on Earth! "
