Framed Art - Colonial Woman With Tambourine in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Price: $55
Type: Furniture, For Sale - Private.

Print depicts a foresty-woods setting where seven people who appear to be well-to-do and dressed in colonial-style clothing have settled in a clearing among tall mature trees. A man and woman are seated on the ground on the left-side and a man and three women are seated on the right side. The man on the right is playing a banjo, while the man on the left is merely holding a banjo.
Everyone's attention is fixed on a thin blond (standing) woman dressed in a beautiful turquoise billowy gown as she dances to the banjo music and slaps a tambourine with arms raised over her head.
Background of the forest contains faint cloudy colors so as to focus attention on the painting's foreground where the people are mingled and where the colors are more crisp.
Painting consists of a print mounted inside a gold-colored hard resin mold frame which actually gives the effect of five frames within a frame due to the frame's unique step-construction. The artist's name is partially concealed in the lower right corner because the frame apparently covers about an inch of the print, so I cannot identify the artist. But I can say this print is very reminiscent of artist Nicolas Lancret's "Mademoiselle de Camargo Dancing" xxxx oil painting of the famed ballerina Marie-Anne Cupis de Camargo with the Paris Opera Ballet.
Print measures 23 1/2 X 32 inches without the frame and overall 31 X 39 1/2 inches counting the frame. Because of the colonial-style clothing theme, the print is most suited for a room in your home with a more formal setting or hanging above a special or antique furniture piece.
