SUMMARY
The Training and Development Specialist oversees staff development, educational programs, continuing education and orientation for the assigned area of responsibility. Develops a comprehensive plan for meeting the educational needs of the assigned area and carries out the plan in order to enhance, promote and maintain high standards of professional growth in staff and quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:Provides objective recommendations for short and long term goals and plans for assigned area of responsibility.
:Communicates on a regular basis with other members of the management team, staff, and physicians to develop the scope of required educational needs. Meet on a regular basis with the clinical managers of the respective service line to determine employee specific goals and objectives.
:Participates in the service management team by providing educational perspective and expertise, assessing and identifying learning needs, planning and implementing appropriate interventions and evaluating the effectiveness of actions.
:Advises director of periodic goals/project status and presents proposed method and timetable for achieving desired results.
:Directs and controls employee orientation. Evaluate effectiveness of general and unit based orientation on an ongoing basis. Work closely with preceptors to ensure effective orientation of new staff. Disciplines and authoritatively recommends discharge (when necessary) during the orientation process.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of three years of experience required.
Master's degree preferred. Two years of staff/patient education experience preferred.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Meditech and MS Office applications required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Registered Nurse with a current Illinois License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certification in the field of clinical expertise required.
Current CPR Instructor certification preferred.
