MLB designed this unique 9 1/2 X 4 1/8 inch envelope to honor Sammy Sosa as the xxxx National League MVP. Excellent condition.
The glossy envelope features a head shot of Sammy, above his name in large maroon-colored print.
The envelope's left side features a full-bodied color side shot photo of Sammy whacking a baseball. His signature is scrawled just above his knees where the strike zone would be. Large metallic silver letters spelling MVP appear just in front of Sammy's bat swinging through the strike zone. .
The right side of the envelope features an MLB logo, the official Chicago Cubs logo, a statement proclaiming that Sammy is the xxxx Nation League's Most Valuable Player, and a postmark dated November 19,xxxx to coincide with the date of the announcement.
In xxxx, Sammy's monster season included 66 home runs with 158 RBI's while batting .308. Along with the Cardinals' Mark McGuire, Sammy was involved in the home run record chase, which arguably was one of the greatest baseball spectacles of all time.
After Cubs broadcaster Harry Carey died unexpectedly during the xxxx season spring training, Sosa added a gimmick to his traditional home run trot by adding a V sign for victory to honor the memory of Carey, who missed witnessing the most exciting season of them all.
