Front End Developer in Chicago, Illinois For Sale

Located in Chicago and reporting to the firm?s creative director, the front-end developer will mind meld with our talented designers and create responsive interfaces for clients in higher education. We?re looking for someone who can debate the pros and cons of specific approaches with savvy clients, guide non-savvy clients, and create code that?s snappy and elegant across devices. We?re also looking for someone who plays well in the sandbox and will thrive as a member of a casual, collegial team.
Primary Responsibilities with approximate percentage of time expected:
5% ? growing our firm via thought leadership, process improvements, and new product/service offerings.
70% ? working collaboratively with clients, strategists, creatives and CMS developers to envision, design, and build innovative websites and solutions. This involves informing design choices to ensure the solution fits within the project scope, as well as planning and executing the HTML implementation.
15% ? providing oversight, guidance, and coaching to other front-end developers (including freelancers and third parties) to ensure a successful and high-quality implementation.
10% ? creative and technical brainstorming and experimenting with fresh approaches.
Responsibilities:
UI/UX and HTML development work on enterprise-level websites.
Participation in strategic planning, then the generation of UI workflows, wireframes, and/or prototypes with associated UX and information architecture considerations.
Work in partnership with designers to produce tight, forward-thinking, responsive and scalable front-end designs.
Create fully responsive, accessible, meticulous HTML5/CSS3 templates using JavaScript/jQuery that meet cross-browser or device-specific requirements.
Ensure HTML deliverables meet technical quality standards and works with CMS developers to complete a smooth transition to the implementation phase.
Integrate best practice SEO techniques throughout work products.
Development of copacetic and collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and client team members.
Requirements, Skills, Qualifications, and Assets:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience in a consulting or professional services organization preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of HTML5 / CSS3 / SASS / SCSS / JavaScript / JQuery.
Ability to juggle multiple projects/clients simultaneously.
Curious and energetic about the future of higher education, technology, and the web.
Demonstrates accountability; owns outcomes and results, prioritizes tasks, and consistently meets deadlines.
Thrives on learning and learns quickly. Takes advantage of various resources to self-educate.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work full-time in our Chicago or St. Louis office.
